If you have a good food processor, peanut butter is one of the easiest things to make from scratch. This recipes uses 500 g of peanuts, but if you want to make a bigger batch, just up your quantities!
Lay out your peanuts on a roasting tray and bake in the oven at 200ºC (180ºC fan-forced) for 5-10 minutes until they’re golden and fragrant.
Allow to cool completely, then add them to a food processor and blend. The peanuts will form a crumb at first, then after a few minutes of blending will turn into a paste. Blend until it’s as smooth as you’d like. If you like it chunky, add in a few extra peanuts and pulse until you get the right consistency. Season with salt to taste, then add to clear jars and store in the cupboard until you’re ready to use it.
After a little while, the natural oils from the peanuts will separate, so give it a stir before use.
